General Information
Fin5 Orienteering Week 2007 is arranged in Kankaanp and Lavia. The organizers are experienced in arranging orienteering competitions and distances from event centres to the competition centre are short. The terrain is not only excellent for orienteering but also gives possibility to spend a nice summer week in Satakunta in the western part of Finland.

Program and the theme for each day

The Competitions at Fin5 Orienteering Week
The maps are 6-coloured orienteering maps (scale 1:10000, contour of 2,5m). The sizes of maps are A3, A3S, A4 and A4S for adults and A5 for children.
Terrains
The terrain in North Satakunta is mainly forest with small cliff areas. At the beginning of week the terrain is fairly flat. The competitions during the rest of the week take place close to the competition centre where the terrain includes fields and roads. At the eastern part of the terrain there are fairly wide cliff areas with altitude differences and terrain details requiring accurate map reading.
Practice
There are three maps for practice: Sport centre in Kankaanp, Taatanneva (in Lavia) and the terrain close shooting range in Lavia. There are control flags with codes but no punching at controls. The maps are printouts, in which the needed controls will be marked in printing. You can buy the maps from the beginning of June at the Fin5 office. The prices are 5€ for one map or 10€ for all the three maps.
Punching System Emit
At the Orienteering week Emit punching system will be used. The organizers set aside a rented Emit-card for those who have not stated the card number of their personal emit-card in registration. Emit-card rental is 3€ /day or 10€ /week. The rent is paid when picking up the card from the info desk at the competition centre. You can try out the Emit using the system at the event centre in Kankaanp at 14.7 15.00-18.00.
Prizes
Valuable product prizes are awarded according to the overall results of the Fin5 orienteering week. In addition, the winners of the first four races are awarded in each class. A Fin5 medal will be given to all competitors at the finish of the last competition (excluding open courses). One prize per day is drawn among the open course orienteering participants. There are Fin5 medals available for purchase for all the open course participants.
Other instructions
The competitors should use an outfit which covers the body and the legs. Shirt may be short-sleeved.
Elite classes
For the classes H21E a maximum of 80 competitors and for D21E a maximum of 60 competitors will be chosen. For the classes H/D20E, H/D18E and H/D16E a maximum of 50 competitors per class will be chosen. The rest will be placed in a class nearest to the one they have registered into. Finnish competitors will be qualified according to their www-ranking standings on 30th June 2007 and earlier success in important competitions. Foreign competitors are chosen on the basis of IOF Word Ranking and placements in international as well as national competitions. The participants to the elite classes are chosen in the first instance among the participants who have registrated to the whole week. The starting order of the 5th competition is defined according to the results in the four previous races. The 5th race is run as a pursuit.
Open classes
Daily there are five different courses of different levels and lengths: A3, A5, A7, B and C. The fees are 25€ /week or 5€ /day if paid not later than 28th June 2007. After this date (payment at competition center) the fees are 30€ /week and 6€ /day. Emit Card rental is 3€ /day. The organizers hope the registrations will be done beforehand. Registration also takes place at the Open Course Info desk in the competition centre.
Open course for children, ”Rastiralli”
Open course for children is marked on the terrain, all controls are on the marked route. In controls there are tasks that relate to nature, themes vary from day to day. Registration, start and finish are situated near the competition centre. Emit punching system is used on the course. Fee is 3€/day.

Registration for Fin5 orienteering week can be made through registration service in our website www.kansu.fi/fin5. Correction instructions can be found on the same website.
Post-registrations have to be made by 28th June, 20.00 o’clock through the registration service at the website. Vacant places are drawn to elite classes and organizers can fill these places according to their judgment. These vacant places can be inquired from Fin5 office by e-mail fin5@kansu.fi.
Entry fees
Entry fees determined by payment date are as follows:
Discount payment for those who pay by 28.2.2007: Elite classes 70 €/ week, 16 €/ day, H/D9-16 30 €/ week, 8 €/ day, other classes 60 €/ week, 14 €/ day.
Normal payment for those who pay by 19.6.2007: Elite classes 75 €/ week, 17 €/ day, H/D9-16 35 €/ week, 9 €/ day, other classes 65 €/ week, 15 €/ day.
Post-registration payments for those who pay by 28.6.2007: Elite classes 100 €/ week, 25 €/ day, H/D9-16 50 €/ week, 15 €/ day, other classes 90 €/ week, 22 €/ day.
The map fee for open courses paid by 28.6.2007 is 25€/ week, 5€/ day. Payment on the competition center is 30€/ week and 6€ /day.

Transportation
Bus transport is available from event center to the competition center. Fees: adults 20 €/week or 5 €/day and children 10 €/week or 3 €/day.
Parking
Car park is situated nearby the competition centre not more than 500 m from the finish. Parking fees for cars are 20 € /week or 5 €/day, for caravans 20€/week or 10€/ day, for buses 40 €/week or 10 €/day. Parking tickets can be bought in advance from the info. Payment will be controlled at exit.
Services at the Competition Centre
At the competition centre there are small shops, product presentations etc. The cafeterias have a wide range of meals and snacks on offer. Emit cards, revisions to competitor data, open course orienteering, lost and found and interpreter services are available at the info. There is warm water shower and sauna (2€/ day) at the competition centre. Toilet facilities are at the competition centers and near the start signs. There is dog park at the competition centre (2€/ day).
Child care
Childcare “Muksula” is available for children (aged 1 year or older) near the competition center. The childcare services include a small snack and supervised activities according to daily theme at a cost of 3 €/day. Advance admissions through the Fin5-homepage by 6th July, 2007.
Services at the Event Centre
At the event centre in the town of Kankaanp there is a Fin5 orienteering week accommodation o the floor at 40e/ week or 10€/ day (includes mattress). Tentplace 40€/ week. Electrified caravan parking 60€/week or 12€/day. These accommodations are managed through orienteering week office. Accommodation fees should be paid to Fin5 orienteering week bank account in connect with reservation. In the event centre there is info where information, sales, distribution and payments are managed. There is also possibility to dining at the event centre.

Guidance and road signs
Road signs to the event centre in Kankaanp. The main road signs for the competition centre are on the road 44, 20 km south of Kankaanp and 7 km north of Lavia. Road signs begin at road 23 from Kankaanp and road 11 from Kiikoinen.
